This study explored whether language structure impacts repetitive speech use in children with ASD. Five children with ASD were analyzed for the frequency and type of repetitive speech used in two differing tasks: storytelling (more-structured) and play-based (less-structured). Participants produced less repetitive speech during the storytelling task and no notable differences in the types of repetitive speech were observed.
