Primary gamma-ray transitions of tungsten-184 following thermal neutron capture in tungsten-183

Primary gamma-ray transitions of ¹??W following thermal neutron capture in ¹?³W were examined using an annihilation-pair spectrometer. Energies and intensities of gamma-ray transitions in the 5 MeV - 7.5 MeV range were determined. The detection system consisted of a Ge(Li) detector placed in the center of a large annular NaI(T1) scintillator which is split into four optically independent quadrants. Threefold coincidence between the Ge(Li) detector and two opposite quadrants of the NaI(T1) annulus produced a high quality simplified spectrum. A level scheme is proposed with new levels at 1893.9, 1908.2, 1996.6, 2031.3, 2201.6, 2228.7, 2270.1, 2321.1, 2333.2, 2352.8, and 2390.9 keV.
