Higher education and media commitment to ethics

To some people, the term “media ethics” represents much the same thing as the term “military intelligence” – a common phrase that contradicts itself. While this might well be an overstatement of the problem, there is definitely much room for improvement in the adherence of the mass media to ethical principles and, most importantly, in the behavior of individual journalists. I believe this process helping future journalists become more socially responsible begins in the journalism classroom.
