A is a composition for string orchestra, percussion and choir based on the drama "Raka" by the South African author N.P. van Wyk Louw. This work is a musical portrayal of the drama, depicting the gradual insurgence of the leopard Raka into the tribal community, despite the repeated warnings by the warrior Koki, portrayed by the cello section. This leads to chaos and the eventual destruction of the community. The composer strived towards creating the aural ambience of the tribal environment suggested by the play itself. Each string player is required to play an African thumb piano. The musical language include alleatoric, serial and indigenous South African elements.en_US
