Manufacturing employees' attitudes toward their employers in DeKalb, Illinois

This thesis measures employees' attitudes in manufacturing locations in DeKalb, Illinois. Information was collected through the use of a survey as well as some individual interviews. The survey was mainly set up using the Likert scale of attributes for consistency in measuring attitudes. Nine manufacturing locations participated in this study. They ranged in size from 30 to 280 employees. Comparisons were made in attitudes by company and by several demographic categories. There were six hypotheses for this study for comparative attitudes. Attitudes were compared between men and women, union and non-union members, salaried and hourly employees, by age categories, and by years of service. This research can be used as a tool to learn about employees' attitudes in DeKalb, Illinois. While this research was limited to manufacturing facilities in DeKalb, the results may not be specific to the area. This research is one additional snapshot of employees' attitudes that can be used for future comparisons with different research.
